Paint Correction
Paint correction is a term that is now commonly used by both professional car detailers and car cleaning enthusiasts worldwide to describe the process of restoring and rejuvenating the paintwork of a vehicle, mostly through the elimination of surface imperfections, that dull, oxidize, or haze the surface by reflecting light off in various directions, therefore detracting from a true and proper, clean, sharp, reflection. These imperfections include things such as swirl marks & scratches, bird dropping etching & tree sap/ water spot etching, holograms & buffer trails, and random isolated deep scratches.
The polishing is usually a multistage process as a range of different grades of polish are used, ranging from heavier cutting compounds, which remove the surface material, to finer products which then remove any marks that the heavier products may have inflicted and generally refine the finish. During the paint correction process it is common for a paint depth gauge to be used. Here at Eminent we utilize a Positector 200 & a Positector 6000 to fully scope the vehicles surface no matter the substrate - Also used to identify any previous repairs whether you are the original owner or are looking to purchase a vehicle from a broker.
Ceramic Coatings
Each and every day someone will ask "What is a Ceramic Coating and why do I need it?"
Firstly, there are two types of Coatings. Consumer and Professional grade. Consumer products can be purchased by anyone and installed by anyone, however damage can and will be inflicted if not properly applied. Professional grade coatings are only available to certified installers that have a licensed & insured business - however just because someone has access to a Coating, does not mean they should be installing it. While a Coating has significant benefits and will have your vehicle looking like it just rolled off the showroom floor for years to come, thousands of dollars in repair will occur if applied incorrectly.
A Ceramic Coating is one of the most protective options you can put on your vehicles exterior or leather surfaces. With benefits such as increased chemical resistance, environmental protection, self cleaning & maximum hydrophobic properties, significant marring resistance, unmatched gloss & there is no need to apply a sealant or wax for the life of the coating.
There are 2, 4, 5 & 7 year Ceramic Coatings accessible through Eminent, all of which have available Warranties.
While it may seem like the ultimate product, there is still maintenance that needs to be done. A coated vehicle will stay clean far longer than one that isn't, and can be completely washed in the matter of minutes - most grime will rinse off with a touch-less wash, leaving the vehicle with the 'just detailed' look for years to come.
The Coating itself is essentially a sacrificial semi-permanent layer, which when cured offers significant protection to your vehicles clear coat, trim, wheels, and other painted surfaces. A Ceramic Coated vehicle is not scratch proof and still needs to be on a maintenance schedule.
Interior Rejuvenation
We realize that for most non-car enthusiasts, the difference probably isn’t very significant. However, all car owners, enthusiasts or not, should look at getting their vehicle's interior detailed every so often. With modern leathers and other materials used, they must be tended to on a maintenance schedule to promote longevity, preservation and resale value.
With all of the different types of leather, vinyl, fabric, plastic, suede and other materials - it is crucial to fully understand which products can be used on a specific substrate. Having an interior professionally detailed is far more intensive than just a quick vacuum and wiping everything down; each and every speck of dirt is completely removed leaving as close to 'new' appearance possible. The Detailer's goal when finished is to leave the vehicle as if they were never there & your automobile in a state as if it just left the factory.
Why a Professional?
Instilling your trust in a company to take care of your vehicle is a rather large commitment - Choosing someone that is fully insured, licensed and certified is paramount to your automobiles care & safety.
Proper tools, equipment, materials and technique must be utilized to thoroughly and efficiently complete the task at hand. A simple mistake caused by an inexperienced 'Detailer' can potentially cost thousands of dollars to repair.
Blatantly stated - you wouldn't call an Electrician when in need of a Surgeon. An experienced, well seasoned Detailer that has spent years learning & mastering the craft of restoring a vehicles appearance is not something that you can learn from watching online videos, or as a side hobby working out of an uninsured garage for a couple weekends out of the year. Ensure your vehicle is being serviced by a reputable, insured facility in attempt to avoid a disastrous outcome.
